Restoring Dignity through Affordable Clothing
In Senegal, over 4 million people live on less than $1 a day, making clothing a luxury in rural areas and limiting children’s dignity and inclusion. Meanwhile, urban centers face a flood of second-hand imports – over $100M annually – fueling textile waste and pollution. This imbalance calls for sustainable, inclusive solutions.
Upcycling Textile Waste for Social Impact
Natural Source upcycles textile waste into affordable clothing and school supplies, priced between $1 and $5 and payable in installments. Through partnerships with women’s groups, schools, and local NGOs, products are delivered directly to rural villages – fostering community ownership, job creation, and lasting impact.
Impact and Achievements
Natural Source has shown that circular economy models can thrive in vulnerable communities by turning textile waste into affordable products while creating jobs and empowering women. Since its launch, the project has reached villages across Senegal, secured institutional partnerships, and mobilized external funding to sustain its growth.
