Breaking Barriers in Food Supply Chains

Across Nigeria, smallholder farmers lose up to 40% of their harvests due to inefficient supply chains, lack of transparency, and weak access to markets. These challenges reduce farmers’ incomes, increase food prices, and limit food security in one of Africa’s largest agricultural economies.

A Blockchain Marketplace for Farmers

FarmScan is a blockchain-powered digital marketplace that connects farmers directly with consumers. By cutting out intermediaries, it reduces post-harvest losses, ensures fair prices, and enhances traceability. The platform empowers smallholder farmers with digital tools while improving consumer trust in the quality and safety of their food.

Impact and Achievements

FarmScan has proven that technology can bridge the gap between farmers and consumers, making food systems more resilient and transparent. Since its launch, it has validated its model and secured its first paying customers.

Trust is the Future of Food

To scale, FarmScan requires investment in digital infrastructure, partnerships with farmer cooperatives, and outreach to expand its user base. This support will enable the platform to reduce food losses further and make agricultural markets more inclusive across Nigeria.

“FarmScan was able to achieve market validations, onboard first set of customers and refine our solution to meet international standards. We also had the privilege to explore more on procedures and technicalities around our project. All thanks to the AYCH team.”
