The Cost of Cooking with Firewood

In Zambia, more than 80% of households still rely on charcoal and firewood for cooking. This dependence drives deforestation, worsens indoor air pollution, and contributes to climate change. Traditional stoves are inefficient, unhealthy, and costly in the long term, particularly for low-income families.

A 3-in-1 Clean Energy Stove

AFNON introduces an energy-efficient 3-in-1 stove that reduces reliance on charcoal and firewood. The stove cuts household energy costs, improves indoor air quality, and provides a safer, more sustainable way of cooking. By combining innovation with affordability, AFNON promotes healthier families and greener communities.

Impact and Achievements

Since 2015, AFNON has proven the viability of clean cooking solutions at scale. The project has created permanent employment, reached thousands of customers, and generated consistent revenues while reducing deforestation pressure in Zambia.

Cooking Without Costing the Earth

To expand further, AFNON requires $250,000 USD to complete R&D, scale manufacturing, strengthen distribution networks, and accelerate awareness campaigns on clean cooking. With this support, the project can reach thousands more families across Zambia and play a critical role in fighting deforestation and household air pollution.

The AYCH program completely shifted my perspective and reignited my sense of hope. It equipped me with the tools and confidence to develop my project and truly believe in my ability to create real impact in my community.
